A Note to MDL Judges
Greetings MDL judges! My name is LaTonya Starks and I am the Administrative Director of the Milwaukee Debate League (MDL). The MDL is an urban education program, which utilizes competitive, policy debate in an effort to promote equity in education in urban areas. Debate training has a fundamental impact on the reading level, grade point average and conduct of participating students. Some of these benefits are outlined in this segment, aired on CBS’s 60 Minutes about one of our earlier successes in Baltimore, MD: http://urbandebate.org/60minutes.shtml. In short, debate changes lives!
Join us at the Milwaukee Debate League! We would like to invite you to become a partner university of the MDL. We are seeking volunteers from the Milwaukee-area to assist us with our efforts. The MDL is looking for eager and dedicated college students to serve as debate tournament assistants and judges, as well as to conduct reading assessments of our students.
If you are interested in learning more, I would love to speak with you or meet you in person.
